“To be truly, in every way, a local incarnation and sign of the Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church in union with the Vicar of Christ, the Hierarchy, and the holy Magisterium with all the richness and beauty of Catholic Truth, Liturgy, and Tradition in our day.”
O invincible defender of Holy Church’s freedom, Saint Gregory of great renown, by that firmness thou didst show in maintaining the Church’s rights against all her enemies, stretch forth from Heaven thy mighty arm, we beseech thee, to comfort her and defend her in the fearful battle she must ever wage with the powers of darkness. Do thou, in an especial manner, give strength in this dread conflict to the venerable Pontiff who has fallen heir not only to thy throne, but likewise to the fearlessness of thy mighty heart; obtain for him the joy of beholding his holy endeavors crowned by the triumph of the Church and the return of the lost sheep into the right path. Grant, finally, that all may understand how vain it is to strive against that faith which has always conquered and is destined always to conquer: “this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith.” This is the prayer that we raise to thee with one accord; and we are confident, that, after thou hast heard our prayers on earth, thou wilt one day call us to stand with thee in Heaven, before the eternal High Priest, Who with the Father and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth world without end. Amen
Welcome!
St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church; home of the Latin Mass in Pensacola. St. Stephen Parish was founded in 1922 and its school in 1933 (which closed in 1973). It has served the people of Pensacola and many others who have been stationed here on military duty or training for these many years. At present, the Parish is the only one in the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee which offers the Traditional Latin Mass, the so-called Tridentine or Gregorian Rite of the Mass not only EVERY Sunday and Holy Day but also several times a week, including special Feasts only found in the 1962 Calendar. Since March of the Year 2000, by the kind petition of His Excellency, Bishop John H. Ricard (now since retired), we have had this Rite every month. Beginning with September 2008, in obedience to His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI’s Motu Proprio, “Summorum Pontificum,” we have had this beautiful Ancient Rite every Sunday at ten-thirty a.m. It is a High sung Mass. Though longer than other forms of the Liturgy, it is very lovely and reverent and inspires faith in the Mystery of our Redemption by Christ, our High and Eternal Priest. If you want the Faith, the Liturgy, and the Teaching of the centuries, St. Stephen is the Parish for you. If you want “fast-food”, casual type Liturgies, it most certainly is not. All are welcome. PLEASE OBSERVE RULES OF ETIQUETTE: A SPIRIT OF SILENCE AND PRAYER IN CHURCH; PROPER ATTIRE – NO PICNIC OR BEACH WEAR HERE. PLEASE – NO SHORTS OR LOW CUT NECKLINES OR SUPER SHORT SKIRTS. UPPER ARMS AND CHEST NEED TO BE COVERED FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. MODESTY IN ALL THINGS IN THE HOLY TEMPLE – AT ALL TIMES. We thank you for your full cooperation. We love our Church and respect the holiness of the Temple of God. For those who prefer the more modern Rite of Blessed Paul VI and mostly in English, we recommend the Vigil Mass at 4:00 PM and the early Mass at 7:30 on Sundays. We also have a Low Tridentine Mass every Thursday followed by Benediction, (on most Thursdays of the year). The morning Mass on Saturday at 8:30 AM is now also in the Gregorian Rite. This is followed by our traditional Novena to Our Lady of Fatima and Prayers for Healing. Many over the years claim healings of body and soul. We look forward to seeing you soon! – Very Rev. Canon Pérez
In February 2019 Our Rector was made a Canon of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem – A great honor.

CHILDREN & CRY ROOM POLICY
Here at St. Stephen, we are 100% pro-life. Children and babies are most welcome. We prefer that they participate as fully as they can according to their abilities and, of course, some measure of decorum is expected as we educate our children in the richness of our Catholic Tradition. Though there is a cry room in the back of the Church, off the Foyer, we prefer that it is only used in dire cases of babies who are crying extremely loud or children talking out loud. Otherwise, we give praise to God for the little voices who, in their own way, give Him worship and homage by their very existence and being. Children are our future and we love and protect them in every way. We give thanks to God for them and their parents! We ask that you please refrain from giving children any snacks in the Church proper.
